Holiday Tea Towels

Sleepy Fox

I hand-embroidered this sewing machine cover in the dead of winter and was feeling uncreative. The fox is on a white fabric from a sheet. The overall item is a part of a canvas drop cloth and a variety of threads. I then used a permanent pastel to add some shading to the fox. I made this up as I went.

Elephant Dance

I used a pattern called “Mojave” by Villa Rosa Designs. I changed it quite a bit to get to the size I wanted. I added the rows between the blocks and inner borders. Don’t look close, my piano key is uneven. The grey solid in the inner border is a heavy canvas I got at a thrift store. Gift for baby #2 of BFF.

Snuggly Bears

Collaborative quilts with friends. Two others helped cut and applique the bears. I then did the background quilting and assembly. This quilt is QAYG with sashing. I used a sacrificial back as I was having tension challenges from the black outlining thread showing on the back. The noses are minky and the baby that received this loves that feature. Applique and layout by Wendy Gratz. Most of the fabrics are sheets I upcycled. The white is a piece of white fabric I bought at a yard sale.

Cats, Tea and More

Queen Plus sized quilt for my sister. The blocks are 10-minute blocks. I assembled those into 20″ blocks and then quilted using. QAYG and a sacrificial back. The back has grey and purple flannel sheets and they were a wringly mess. I should have had more tension on the fabric when I attached it. But, my sister still loves this. Fabrics are from all over and were all inspired by her favorite things. The book row at the top is free-pieced. The white is a sheet.

Silly Bunny Foo Foo

Wendy Gratz bunny blocks with alternating solids from my stash. This was super fast and given to a co-wroker. QAYG. Mostly big-box quality fabrics.

Deep Sea Diver, Two Ways

Two versions of a small wall hanging using the same image but taken in different directs. The base is chips and then the turtle is applique and free motion. The one on the left also has tulle.

Baby Stacks

The applique images are from a coloring book and the overall design was mine. This was a gift from my best friend on the occasion of her first child’s birth. It was about 50″ square.
